The design is for a new 15,000 sqft STEAM Facility (Science, Engineering, Arts and Maths) and includes five new science labs, a MakerSpace, two computer science, a robotics labs, a learning commons and library, as well as a leadership centre for girls. This project has been a true collaboration, with international specialists Gensler (Education Specialists), Jacobs Consulting Ltd (Laboratory specialists) and BHS’s STEAM TASK force to deliver the best possible design and technical solutions for this project. The concept for the BHS STEAM building was to design a building with fluid connections between disciplines to create spaces which will encourage more student/ teacher interactions both inside and outside the classroom, with the idea that every moment is a teachable moment. The building itself is designed to be part of the learning tool, by exposing the buildings structure and systems to promote discussions around engineering and sustainability.
